The Cold Toes Song
Words: Padraig Ruad O'Maolagain
Tune: The Christmas Song
(written for the Elfsea Fool's Revel Bardic Competition)
My feet toasting by an open fire
Thawing out my frosted toes
Sore and tired, they were bound up all day
In my only pair of ragged hose
Just looking at the steam
That's rising from my frozen toes
Disappearing in the night
Getting some feeling back into my feet
Will finally make these toes feel right
Next I'll feel needles and pins
An unpleasant itiching all o'er my skin
But in a little while, it will go
Then I'll start in, a-scatching on my toes
And so I'm waiting for the ice to melt
Then I can stand and walk again
Although I must go out in the cold later on
I'll have warm toes 'til then
